The office of the notary public, Florida Department of State, has produced a free interactive educational program on the Internet that can be found at http://notaries.dos.state.fl.us/education. When you are ready to begin the class, single click on Start Self-Assessment.
The course consists of seven sections of information regarding the notary laws and procedures in the State of Florida. At the end of each section, you will need to complete a simple, short multiple-choice quiz before proceeding to the next sections. (We suggest that you print the course material as you complete each of these seven sections. This information will be very useful as a reference manual for any notary concerns that you may need to address in the future.) Finally, at the end of the course you will be able to print your Certificate of Completion. If you have problems printing this certificate, simply write down your certificate number so that the State can print the certificate for you. If you need to have the State print the certificate, call (850) 922-6400, ext. 8 so that they can either fax or mail you one. An original signed copy of this certificate must accompany your application forms in order for us to process your notary appointment.
If you do not have a computer that has access to the Internet, we suggest that you go to your local library and use the computer there that is available to the public.
We feel confident that you will find this educational material helpful in understanding the responsibilities of a notary public in the State of Florida. Should you have any problems using the above website to complete this course requirement, please give our office a call at (800) 432-4254 and we will be happy to assist you!
